About us
We believe a little trouble can be good for you.
Troublemaking Supply Co. is a small shop for the curious, the questioning, the creative, the mildly ungovernable, and anyone who has ever looked at the way something is done and thought:
Says Who?
We make tools & goods for making good trouble—the kind that comes from noticing things, asking questions, making things, saying things, growing things, laughing at ridiculous things, and occasionally refusing to cooperate with things that deserve a little resistance.
Sometimes good trouble is loud.
Sometimes it looks like speaking up, challenging an old idea, or refusing to make yourself smaller.
But sometimes it's remarkably ordinary.
Plant the flowers the bees actually want.
Wear the thing you were told you're too old for.
Make something for no productive reason whatsoever.
Leave the leaves.
Ask the uncomfortable question.
Change your mind.
Let somebody else change theirs.
Put the weird thing in your yard.
We are particularly fond of small acts with disproportionate spirit.
Why “troublemaking”?
Because not all trouble is destructive.
Some trouble interrupts what has become automatic. Some makes room for something better. Some is creative. Some is compassionate. Some is deeply necessary.
And some is simply the trouble of being fully, inconveniently yourself in a world that has a lot of opinions about how you should be doing things.
We think that's worth supplying.
What you'll find here
Things to wear, carry, write in, stick on questionable surfaces, put in the garden, give to another troublemaker, and deploy in the wild.
Some things will have something to say.
Some will ask a question.
Some will be useful.
Some will exist primarily because they made us laugh.
That counts too.
We're interested in gardens and humans, behavior and culture, creativity and curiosity, power and permission, the rules we inherit, the rules we make up, and the peculiar things people do simply because that's how it's done.
There will probably also be raccoons.
They have masks, tiny criminal hands, very little respect for boundaries, and an almost pathological commitment to finding out what's inside things.
We respect the methodology.
A small note on good trouble
Troublemaking isn't the same thing as being an asshole.
Around here, we favor curiosity over certainty, punching up over punching down, and trouble that makes the world a little more interesting, humane, generous, equitable, or alive.
If your version of trouble requires making somebody else smaller so you can feel bigger, you may be shopping at the wrong Supply Co.
Otherwise—
Welcome, Troublemaker.
Have a look around.
We supply the tools.
You make the trouble.
